Personal property assessments must be made by May 31st of each year to avoid a 10% penalty. The taxpayers will be able to assess their Personal taxes online beginning January of 2013.  Personal property to be assessed includes, but is not limited to the following: Vehicles, Boats, Motors, Trailers, ATVs, RVs, Stock Trailers, Livestock (used for commercial purpose), Farm Equipment, All assets used in businesses. Amendment 79 can provide property tax relief up to $350.00 Homestead credit on your place of residence. You can only claim one Homestead Credit. We also have a website of which is available to search for real property records online free to you at: As technology advances and is becoming more of today’s world, upgrades are gradually being implemented over time to help the taxpayers and our office.  We also have a Parcel Mapping Project that is in process and hope this will be completed December of 2014. We applied for this State Grant and were one of the counties awarded and with their help and funds from the County, more technology will be coming to you soon.

Office of Emergency Management


The office of the County Judge is to be operated according to all constitutional and statutory provisions of the law in concurrence with the annual approved budget for the office.  As chief executive, the County Judge authorizes and approves the disbursement of all appropriated county funds, operates the system of county roads, administers ordinances enacted by the Quorum Court, has custody of the county property, accepts grants from federal, state, public and private sources, and hires county employees except those persons employed by other elected officials of the county.

All powers not vested in the County Judge as the chief executive officer shall continue to be exercised and administered by the Quorum Court, over which the county judge shall preside, without a vote but with the power of veto.

The County Judge oversees the Road Department and the Office of Emergency Management.
